Pastor:
Rev. Hyo-Jin Kim, Ph.D

Rev. Hyo-Jin Kim, Ph.D. came from Seoul, Republic of Korea, and moved to New Carlisle a month ago to serve New Carlisle United Methodist Church as the newly appointed pastor. He completed his M.Div. degree at Methodist Theological University (MTU) in Seoul and finished his dual degree in Master of Theological Studies and Master of Art in Practical Theology from Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO).

He worked as a columnist, planning producer and strategist in a newspaper and broadcasting company for about 20 years in South Korea. He also was a research professor at Methodist Theological University (MTU) for 3 years. His doctoral degree is about the US foreign policy and his research areas were about the explorations of how theology and politics work together in a society.

He has also served on several churches for many years in South Korea as a leader of a North Korean refugee group. Finally, he turned his way of life fully toward following God’s calling. After a one-year experience as a local pastor at Morral UMC, he became a provisional elder in 2020 and was newly appointed as a full-time pastor at New Carlisle UMC.
